Polly Laubach-Eckrote | Painter
Polly Laubach-Eckrote was born in Berwick, Columbia County, Pennsylvania, but moved to Lancaster County at age 2. She was interested in art for as long as she remembers. In her Junior year of high school, her family returned to Berwick, where she was in the Academic Curriculum majoring in “Art” and “Writing/Literature.” On graduating from Berwick High School, she studied Art and Education with a minor in Writing at Kutztown University in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, and graduated in 4 years with a B.S. in Art Education.
A former typesetter and graphic designer, both as employed and freelance, she was also a cartographic assistant with R.R. Donnelley who worked on the Yellow Pages maps. She has substituted for art teachers in the Lancaster, Allentown, Reading and Columbia County area schools over the years. Ms. Laubach-Eckrote has been a member of various art associations in the Lancaster and Columbia County areas, and is currently a member of the North Mountain Art League. In addition to her art, she has published several fiction and non-fiction pieces and has been an ardent genealogy researcher for over 40 years, being a long-time member of the Columbia County Historical and Genealogical Association. |
